Enjoy the weather this week, because it is looking like there will be an arctic outbreak by this time next week! All of the models are now forecasting arctic air to make the plunge into Texas late Saturday or early Sunday (the 20th). From there, they all start disagreeing on what will happen next! The NBM and the GFS models are thinking, “cold, but not so bad”, while the Canadian and the European models are thinking, “Yikes, make it stop!” Since we are still a week out, I expect a lot of changes in the forecasts as we get closer to next Sunday, but one way or the other, winter will be returning!

For this week, temperatures will run a little below normal with lows in the 30’s and 40’s and highs in the 50’s and 60’s with next to zero chances for precipitation. Friday and Saturday will be mild (in the 70’s) ahead of our big bad front.

The latest CPC temperature outlook for days 8-14 certainly looks blue!

Temperatures will run slightly below normal this week.

For next week, (20th-25th) the GFS model thinks it will be below normal for temperatures, but not that cold. Numbers shown are how many degrees below normal, not actual!

For next week, (20th-25th) the Euro model thinks it will be much below normal for temperatures! Numbers shown are how many degrees below normal, not actual!

For fun, here’s how much snow the models are predicting next week (20th-23rd). Click on images to see them larger.
