Heads up for the potential for severe storms for south-central Texas and northern counties of south Texas this afternoon and evening. A disturbance moving in from Mexico and a dryline in West Texas will ignite some hefty storms today. While a squall line may form to the west in Mexico and move eastward, there will be plenty of storms just popping up in the afternoon as the atmosphere becomes unstable as our usual atmospheric cap erodes this afternoon. There is not only the potential for large hail and high winds, but a chance for a few tornadoes. I would not be surprised if a Severe Thunderstorm Watch is issued this afternoon. Not to be overlooked, parts of south-central Texas have a chance for seeing “excessive rain” from this system. As usual, please tune to your NOAA radio or make sure your emergency apps are up and running for warnings in your area.
