Not much change since the beginning of the month, with most of the heavier rain falling in areas that have been getting rain over the past couple of months. Extreme drought conditions continue over much of the southern Hill Country. This weekend and late next week look promising for rain, but until we actually see it falling in the areas that need it most, it's hard to get excited yet.

Meanwhile, the latest (ENSO) Diagnostic Discussion is out today.

"ENSO Alert System Status: El Niño Advisory / La Niña Watch
Synopsis: A transition from El Niño to ENSO-neutral is likely in the next month. La Niña may develop in June-August (49% chance) or July-September (69% chance)."

As I have mentioned in past posts, La Niña may actually help us this summer, with increasing the likelihood of tropical systems. While no one wants a destructive hurricane to impact our Texas beaches, a depression or weak tropical storm could give us beneficial rains.

We could be back into a La Niña pattern by July.
