Two cold and rainy days ahead!

12-5-24. 4:15pm. This update is brought to you by Dietz-McLean Optical. www.dmoptical.com

Our latest cold front blew through early this morning, and we are now setting the stage for a rainy and chilly couple of days ahead with highs only in the 40’s and 50’s! Our Baja low is just to the south of Arizona and as it moves our direction over the next three days, it will draw in Pacific moisture from the SW, giving us a good chance for showers and even a couple of thunderstorms through early Sunday. By Sunday afternoon, look for a break in the rain and a parting of the clouds as the low moves to our north, into the Panhandle. Monday will be a warm and dry day with winds out the SW, ahead of Tuesday’s front.

While the latest model runs are forecasting less rain than earlier this week, there is still a good chance that many of us find 1/4-3/4 of an inch of rain in our gauges by Sunday…this is on top of earlier rains this week. As I mentioned earlier this week, this is not going to be a drought busting rain, but every little bit helps, especially now that there is much less evaporation happening due to the low sun angle.

On Tuesday, we will see our strongest front of the season move through (not arctic), and by Wednesday and Thursday, many locations in south-central and northern counties of south Texas could see their first freeze this fall.

Below are the latest model runs and CPC outlooks. The latest 8-14 day outlook continues to look bullish for more rain.
