Nice to see that a few of you along the coast, in far south Texas and the LRGV found some rain in your rain gauges over the past 36hrs. As I work on this post, there are still some showers and thunderstorms in those areas. That will end by tomorrow as Tropical Storm Milton (not a very scary sounding name in my opinion!) moves NE and pulls moisture away from Texas at it heads to west central Florida with an expected landfall on Wednesday as a possible CAT 2 storm. Obviously, this is the last thing Florida needs!
For us, "Ditto Weather" continues with our Monster High Pressure dominated a good portion of the country again this week. We will see highs in the 90's and lows in the 60's, except for some 50's in the Hill Country.
Somewhere around the 15th, we could start seeing signs of the high pressure weakening and a couple of upper-level lows giving us a chance for rain as we get closer to the 18th-20th. As for our temperatures, the only relief I'm seeing right now is if we get the rain to move in. I still don't see a strong front on the horizon, but eventually that will have to happen!
Meanwhile, pray for the folks in Florida as they deal with yet another storm. Fortunately, the latest track sends Milton out to sea after moving through Florida, avoiding the SE states that were nuked from Helene.
I'll be working on my winter forecast this week and hope to post it by mid-week.
PS: While we had a great drive yesterday in Silverton, CO, we were about a week late in capturing the peak of color in that area. I'll be shooting some images this week from where we live in Pagosa Springs, CO and sharing them with you guys.

Radar shows some showers and thunderstorms occurring over far south Texas and the LRGV.
36hr rainfall totals.
Milton is heading to Florida!
The latest GFS run is forecasting the high pressure over the west to move into the NE around the 15th. This will allow a couple of upper-level lows to potentially impact our weather.
