We are seeing more scattered shower and thunderstorm activity this afternoon and there may be a few more rain lottery winners before our rain window shuts by tomorrow, except for the LRGV. High pressure from the NE is working its way southwestward this afternoon, eventually pushing out the rich tropical air that has been over us for the past few days. As it moves over us, look for anything tropical to stay far to our south. The latest "tropical something" that has a 60% chance of forming, will be pushed into Mexico next week, keeping any rain limited to the LRGV or far southern counties of south Texas. A reminder to everyone out there...tropical storms are very rare in June, so the rain we saw this week is an amazing bonus. Some of our driest weather often occurs from mid-June through mid-July.
Thanks to the rains that we did get, temperatures should stay below the century mark over the next week, but with the added humidity, it will probably feel like over 100 degrees every afternoon.
For now, I'm seeing a typical summer scenario at least for the next week to 10 days. As we get closer to July, we could see an easing of the high pressure and a return to the easterlies, which would allow for our typical afternoon sea breeze showers and thunderstorms.
Have a great weekend!

There is a 60% chance for something to form in the southern Gulf this week, but high pressure over us will push it into Mexico.
High pressure, pictured in the darker red tones, will move anything that forms in the southern Gulf, into Mexico this week and returns us to typical late June weather.
