Looking into some long-range forecasts…

Before we look into some long-range outlooks, let's quickly talk about the excessive heat this week. Look for highs in the 100's and heat indexes in the 105-110 range through at least Wednesday. There are currently heat advisories our for a large percentage of Texas and some excessive heat warnings for NE Texas.
The latest September outlook from the CPC has equal odds for below or above normal precipitation for most of south-central and northern counties of south Texas...slight better odds for above normal precipitation for the coastal plains and the coast. At this point, I'm sure most of you would be happy with even average September rainfall!
Speaking of September, I ran a few models out for 30 days and have the precipitation results below.
I've included some seasonal graphics, but I find that often the CPC just looks at whether we will be in a La Nina or El Nino and adjusts their models to mirror what is typical in these patterns. Based on what I'm seeing for rainfall outlooks, I'm really hoping they don't get it right!
Stay cool!
Mark
