Cool and mostly sunny for the near future…

Thanks for all of you who shared your images of snow and sleet today on Facebook…I was happy to see that so many of you at least got a dusting of snow early this morning. The big snow lottery winners were to our east in Houston, Galveston, southern Louisiana and Mississippi. New Orleans reported 7.5 inches of snow! Here is a link to our snow totals for south-central Texas: IEM :: PNS from NWS EWX
OK, my headline certainly does not apply to tonight, but after tomorrow we will move into a period of chilly nights in the 30’s and highs in the 50’s to 60’s. For tonight, we will see teens and twenties for lows across south-central Texas and twenties as far south as Brownsville, under clearing skies. Thursday morning’s low ramp up to 20’s and 30’s.
Our next chance for rain (no arctic air this time around), will come towards the end of the month when high pressure over the west coast breaks down (a good thing for the fires) and allows an upper-level low to move into the SW (a good thing for where I live in SW CO). Depending on where this low ends up, we could see a rain event during the final few days of January and the first few days of February. The latest CPC 6-10 and 8-14 day outlooks continue to favor better than 50/50 odds for us seeing above normal rainfall.
