One more cold night ahead!

It’s now two weeks before Christmas so it’s time to start our “Christmas Weather” daily forecast countdown! As of today, there are only two models that include Christmas day, and both (EURO and GFS) are predicting a warm and wet Christmas. As models change, our AI Santa will change with them…I’m hoping he ends up needing a jacket but keeps the umbrella!

Meanwhile, many of you saw your thermometers drop below freezing last night, especially in the rural areas where there was no urban heat island effect. We even saw some lower 20’s in the Hill Country! FYI: We hit zero this morning where we live in SW CO! While not forecast to be as cold tonight, I would still urge everyone to cover your plants again…we could still see a frost even if temperatures don’t drop to freezing. By Friday, there will no longer be a threat for a frost or a freeze.

Looking ahead, a wimpy cool front on Saturday that may die before it even reaches the Hill Country, may stir up a few showers, but the odds will favor east Texas. A seasonal front arrives on Monday with better chances for rain, but again, the best odds will be east of I-35.

As of this post, I’m still not seeing any arctic air on the horizon…
