A few of you saw some showers today…

Thanks to the cut-off low over AZ, a couple of showers managed to form this morning just to the west of I-35 and moved NE...currently dropping some light rain over Austin. Unfortunately, most of the rainfall totals have been under 0.05, but still better than nothing!

We could see a few more of these light showers tomorrow, before the low moves NE on Sunday, into the plains. While this system has basically been a dud for south and south-central Texas, it will be producing some big rains for the Panhandle, eastern NM, CO and even SW CO, where I live. Even more important, it will be boosting the snowpack for much of the mountains in the area, with many of the peaks seeing 1-3 feet of snow.

As the low moves out, it will be replaced by our evil high pressure again, dropping our rain odds to zero and bumping up our temperatures into the low 90's by Wednesday of next week! We may see a wimpy front move through on Thursday, but it will likely only drop our temps to seasonal norms. Models continue to want to make a slight pattern change at the end of the month, but as of right now, it does not look very dramatic or wet.

Hang in there!

Mark
