Horrible Helene heading for Florida…

9-26-24. 9:35pm. This Update is brought to you by Davy Ranch Supply in Yorktown, TX. davyranchsupply.com

I'm back! If you ever decide to drive across Nevada, make sure you have plenty of supplies and a good audio book to listen to...towns are widely spaced and zip zero nada, in between them!

Prayers for Floridians in the path of Helene...while the winds will be bad, the storm surge of up to 20ft is going to be devastating. I know that Texas could have used the rain from this storm, but we certainly did not need the destruction that this storm will bring.

Meanwhile, for us, yesterday's cool front did spark a few storms in south-central Texas and in the coastal plains and near the coast. The highest total I see is 1.14 inches, just to the west of Port Lavaca.

This morning's lows dropped to the 50's over the Hill Country and the 60's for most of our area. Highs today will top off in the upper 80's and lower 90's. Unfortunately, I see 90's for highs through the first week of October, with lows mainly in the 60's with drier air in place. The latest GFS model run thinks a decent cold front could arrive next weekend, but I'm going to have to see some more runs before I start feeling optimistic.

Enjoy the cooler lows and drier air...you won't have to re-schedule any outdoor events this week!
