No fooling…there is one model that is forecasting decent skies for next Monday’s total eclipse! I was hoping more models would change their mind, but one is better than nothing and it is the Euro, which has a good track record.
Below you will see the details, but the Euro is placing the upper-level low that will give us great chances for rain next week, further NW than the other models…essentially slowing the rain and clouds by 12-24 hours. This will keep our upper-level moisture from the Pacific SW, dry, giving us a good chance of seeing the eclipse. The good news is that the Euro model still thinks the rain will come next week, but just delays it by a day. So, if you want to see the eclipse, root for a 24hr delay!

The latest GFS model run puts the upper-level low in southern California on the 8th, bringing in upper-level moisture into our area as indicated on the map.
