An upper-level low is drifting across the Panhandle this afternoon, firing up some severe storms on the east side of the low pressure. This low will continue drifting east, with any additional storms staying to our north.

On Monday, an approaching strong trough will move out of the SW, providing more fuel for some severe storms during the afternoon and evening, with the highest odds in north Texas and Oklahoma. As this trough moves east overnight, it will drag a Pacific cool front into Texas, giving us a tiny chance for a very thin line of storms to drift through our area early on Tuesday morning.

As the day progresses on Tuesday, look for winds to pick up dramatically out of the west, gusting to over 40mph in places. The NWS has already issued a Fire Weather Watch for most of south-central Texas, so you may want to rethink that large bonfire you were planning for Tuesday!

* TEMPERATURES...Up to 80.

* LIGHTNING...None expected.

* IMPACTS...Any wildfires that start could rapidly increase in
  size and intensity and move quickly.

A strong trough will push a Pacific front our direction on Tuesday morning, along with some strong, dry winds. There is a slight chance for some morning storms to form along the front.

The latest NAM model is predicting a wimpy line of storms to form along the front on Tuesday morning.
