Unless things start firing up soon, this is looking like a pretty inactive day for most of our area, as forecast. There are a few storms along the coast and coastal plains, but not much coverage except in East Texas where a mid-level low off the coast will drift slowly northward, sending some big rains their direction over the next couple of days.
For us, look for a few pm poppers tomorrow and Saturday, with an increase in activity Sunday and Monday as a cool front takes a dive into Texas. Depending on where the front ends up, is where we will see the best rain odds. For now, the latest forecast from the NWS has it going stationary around San Antonio. A combination of the stationary front and an upper-level low that will park itself over west Texas, will keep daily rain chances going through next week. One great thing about this setup is that far west Texas and the Big Bend may see some great rain totals over an area that currently is in extreme drought.
Our potential tropic something in the Atlantic now has a 40% chance of developing over the next week. Still way too early to know what becomes of this system, but it is in an area that could send a storm into the Gulf. I'll continue to monitor its status.
