Other than a Saharan Dust cloud heading our way tonight and a potential tropical something that may develop, then head to Florida or along the eastern seaboard, there isn't much to talk about this afternoon. High pressure is in place for at least another week.
So, how about if we talk about July rainfall totals instead? Most areas of south-central and south Texas only average 1.5-3 inches of rain for July, yet many locations exceeded those totals dramatically! Parts of Padre Island saw over 16 inches for the month and several locations in the Hill Country recorded over 10 inches. Even most of the driest spots in the SW counties still saw 1/2-1 inch of rain. It will be interesting to see the new drought report on Thursday...I would predict that the Hill Country has dropped down a notch or two in their drought scale.
If you have a monthly rainfall total, please feel share it with us...just make sure to let us know where your location is!

Here comes the Saharan Dust!
A potential tropical something will likely avoid the Gulf of Mexico.
