A dry line and eventually a Pacific cold front will move through our area this afternoon, lowering our humidity and kicking up our winds again. A Red Flag Warning is in effect today until 9pm (wind gusts over 30mph) and will likely return tomorrow with even higher winds forecast (over 35mph). Details are in the graphics below.
No surprise that our drought has enlarged and gotten worse over the past week. Bexar, Medina, Uvalde, Atascosa, Wilson, Travis, Blanco and Gillespie counties are now in an Exceptional Drought (the worst).
The latest ENSO report came out today and the CPC is predicting, “ENSO-neutral is favored to develop in the next month and persist through the Northern Hemisphere summer (62% chance in June-August 2025). I’m a little concerned that their latest forecast is hinting that La Niña may be back by next winter…that is the last thing we need right now! FYI: Based on one study, ENSO-neutral tends to favor more hurricanes for Texas during the summer.
