There will be rain!

Unlike most of the year when we see convective storms that drop an inch a mile from your home and nothing on your backyard, this is a widespread rain event with moisture moving in from the west ahead of a trough and from a low pressure in the Gulf. Rain will be on the uptick this afternoon and evening, then stopping around sunrise tomorrow as a strong cold front moves through. There is still a chance for freezing rain, sleet and some flurries in the Hill Country before this system moves out, so please be careful tonight if you live up there.

Saturday will start out with most of us in the 20’s, then warming to the 50’s later in the day under clear skies. Long-range outlooks continue to favor above normal odds for precipitation through most of January…we’ll look into that on Saturday.

Enjoy the rain and please let us know how much you’ve found so far in your gauge and where.
