So, the one thing I can guarantee with this forecast is that it will be very warm tomorrow and there will be no rain in the next 7days! Tomorrow’s temperatures will hit the mid to upper 80’s for all of our area with even a few 90’s thrown in for fun in south Texas. We should see quite a few record highs set on Monday. Fortunately, Tuesday’s front will have an extra boost of cool air as it passes through during the day, giving us a chilly New Year’s Eve…you have been warned! Temperatures will drop into the 40’s for most areas by midnight. New Year’s Day will be nice with temperatures mainly in the 50’s and low 60’s. Lows will drop into the 30’s and 40’s on Wednesday and Thursday, then mostly 50’s for the rest of the week. Highs will be mainly in the 60’s from Thursday through the weekend.

Now for our Polar Vortex update…both the European and GFS models are predicting a Polar Vortex to enter the USA around the 7th-11th. The big challenge is where the coldest of the arctic air goes…now the GFS brings the coldest air into Texas around the 10th, but the Euro only gives Texas a glancing blow from the cold air. However, the Euro is now predicting snow for south-central Texas during that time! The CPC still thinks the coldest air stays to our NE. Since we are over a week away, we will continue to see model madness for a while! For what it’s worth, I’ve seen a lot of arctic outbreaks in my past, and they usually end up visiting Texas for at least a couple of days when they move into the plain states. The cold air has a habit of doing its own thing through brute force!
