Drought update.

Even after our big rains last week, Bandera, Kerr, Kendall and northern Median counties still can't get out of Extreme Drought! Fortunately, most of the northern and eastern counties of south-central Texas are drought free as well as most counties in south Texas. We have made some positive gains over the past month, since the beginning of this year and since last October as shown in the graphics below.

I found a new climate product called the HRAP...It does a great job in showing more precise rainfall totals that have fallen vs many of the more general or averaging ones that I have used in the past.

I'll have another post out today to talk about the tropics and our long-range rain future.
