Still hard to know what will happen this week…

A complicated week ahead with a West Texas dryline, several disturbances and a cool front that may impact our weather. Rain odds will ramp up starting Wednesday, when the first of several disturbances move through from the west. There will also be storms building along the dryline each day in West Texas and Mexico, which will make a run to the east, but most likely go “poof” before arriving in south-central Texas. By Friday, a cool front will attempt to make it into south-central Texas. Depending on how far south it goes and whether it becomes stationary, it should provide some additional energy for afternoon thunderstorms for the weekend. The hope would be for these storms to train and allow for some decent rain totals. For south Texas, a chance for some afternoon poppers, but the best odds for rain will stay to your north.

Looking further down the road, the latest 6-10 and 8-14 day forecasts from the CPC predict a fifty-fifty chance for either drier or wetter weather during that period and a better than fifty-fifty odds for above normal temperatures. The GFS model has us flirting with 100 degree temperatures around the 8th…I’m hoping that does not verify!
