36 more hours of rain chances!

Very interesting...our current pattern looks much more like late fall or early winter with a trough draped across half of the state. On the west side, we have dry air aloft and very little chance for rain and on the east side, quite a lot of mid-level moisture that has the potential to spark more afternoon storms. In fact, as I am typing this update, there is a parade of scattered poppers in south Texas, moving northward. I'm hoping they don't go poof, because they could fill in more rain gaps from this week!
Our trough is finally forecast to move west tomorrow, then be replaced by high pressure from the east. There will be a slight boost in rain odds for south-central Texas before the high fills in. Once it moves in, look for a week of mostly dry weather, except for right along the coast. I'm not finding our next rain event yet, but there is a tropical something out in the Atlantic...more than likely that will end up staying to our east, but you never know. The tropics should start ramping up once we move into August.
Fingers crossed for all of you who have been losing the rain lottery this week...36 more hours of rain chances!
Mark
